Data Protection and Confidentiality

Data Protection

Skills Team is fully committed to compliance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act and follows procedures to ensure that all employees, learners, candidates, contractors, agents, consultants and partners who have access to any personal data held by or on behalf of Skills Team, are fully aware of and abide by their duties and responsibilities under the Act.

In order to operate efficiently, Skills Team has to collect and use information about people with whom it works. In addition, it is necessary to collect and use certain information in order to comply with the requirements of funding bodies or central government. This personal information may be collected, recorded and used on paper, computers or any other means, and there are safeguards within the Act to ensure this is used properly.

To this end Skills Team fully endorses the Principles of Data Protection as set out in the Data Protection Act 1998 and will ensure that all personal information shall be kept and used in full compliance with the principles laid down in the Act.

All managers and staff will take steps to ensure that personal and sensitive data is kept secure at all times against unauthorised or unlawful loss or disclosure

Confidentiality

Skills Team is committed at every level and in all aspects of the service it offers to provide a confidential service to all clients, learners, candidates and employers.

Confidentiality is between the individual and the organisation not between the individual and the trainer/assessor. This means that:

  1. Information and evidence will be treated in the utmost confidence and will not be divulged to anyone outside the organisation including the individuals’ employer except where extenuating circumstances exist. However, in order that we can provide the best possible help to our client it may be necessary to share information with an assessor, trainer or manager within Skills Team.
  2. No conversation about an individual will take place with anyone who does not work for the organisation.
  3. No personal information or assessment evidence about a individual will be given to any third party.
